Business contribution to environmental liability debate

The Government's Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment (ACBE) has caused no surprises by coming out against any change to Britain's present system of civil liability for environmental damage.1

The report was prepared at the request of the Government, which will soon have to develop a response to a forthcoming EC green paper on environmental liability (ENDS Report 204, pp 14-17 ) and a new Council of Europe liability convention (ENDS Report 209, pp 33-35
