Move to fill gaps in Part B emissions monitoring guidance

Warren Spring Laboratory (WSL) and the Institution of Environmental Health Officers (IEHO) are collaborating in a project aimed at plugging holes in the Department of the Environment's guidance on "Part B" processes subject to local authority air pollution control by launching a training and information package on emissions monitoring.1

Information on monitoring in the DoE's guidance notes for Part B processes is extremely sketchy. The only specified test method is the British Standard for particulate emissions from chimneys or ducts. For other measurements, the guidance notes state simply that "methods approved by the local authority should be used".
