Environmental assessment rules to be extended

The environmental assessment regime in England and Wales is to be extended by the withdrawal of permitted development rights for so-called Schedule 2 projects liable to have significant effects on the environment. Permitted development rights are also to be withdrawn for projects likely to have a significant effect on sites designated under EC nature protection legislation.
