Environmental consultants launch quality scheme for audits

The UK's leading environmental consultancies have established a scheme designed to ensure the quality of their environmental auditing work. A key feature will be regular external assessments of their compliance with a code of practice and the quality of their auditing teams.

The scheme has been devised by the Association of Environmental Consultancies (AEC), which was launched two years ago to raise standards of professionalism in the sector (ENDS Report 195, pp 15-17). The organisation now has 28 members and says that these represent about half of the UK's environmental consultancy capability.
