Oil industry to fight EC cuts in fuel sulphur levels

The official text of an EC Directive setting limits on the sulphur content of gas oil is now available.1 It is to be followed by a further legislative proposal by the end of 1993, but an oil industry report has questioned whether the environmental benefits of further reductions in sulphur can be justified against the large capital costs involved.
