  • An application to build one of Europe's biggest windfarms, on the edge of the Kielder forest in Northumberland, has been submitted to the Department of Trade and Industry. TriGen Windpower, a joint venture between UK, US and Japanese companies, hopes to build over 250 wind turbines on a site of three square miles.
