Deregulation bites as DoE proposes abolition of special waste rules

Abolition of the system for notifying waste regulation authorities (WRAs) of movements of hazardous waste has been proposed by the Department of the Environment (DoE). The idea has appalled both WRAs and the waste management industry, which fear a return to the days when fly-tipping of toxic waste was a common occurrence.
