DoE criticised over move to extend halon production

A list of "essential" uses of halons for which the Government is seeking continued production of the chemicals beyond the phase-out date set by the Montreal Protocol on the ozone layer has been announced by the Department of the Environment (DoE). The move has been criticised by environmentalists and the UK's only halon producer, ICI.
