  • Green investment company, Jupiter Tyndall Merlin, has suspended Tesco from its portfolio because of its continuing policy of building new stores on greenfield sites. According to fund managers, the trend encourages the use of cars, does not support the national commitments to carbon dioxide reduction targets and is sometimes carried out in spite of intense local opposition. Tesco is accused of reneging on its commitment to "support the well-being of its community and the protection of the environment."
