  • Wessex Water has opened a 250,000 tonne/year liquid waste treatment centre at its Bristol works in Avonmouth. An existing facility was upgraded at a cost of £725,000 to enable it to treat controlled and "difficult" liquid wastes including abbatoir products, dairy waste, dyes and inks, cesspit and septic tank wastes, before mixing it with domestic sewage.
