Latest round in water regulators' slanging match

The already heated battle between the water regulators was further emittered in July by a report from the Office of Water Services (OFWAT) which claimed that the burden of existing environmental legislation will lead to "unaffordable" increases in water bills.1 OFWAT has urged the Government to seek a relaxation of EC water legislation - but meanwhile the National Rivers Authority (NRA) has gone public with a series of criticisms of OFWAT's effectiveness as a price regulator.
