HMIP breaks new ground with ReChem authorisation
ReChem International has been given the go-ahead to continue the incineration of hazardous wastes at its site near Pontypool, south Wales. HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) has granted an integrated pollution control (IPC) authorisation to the process, but is seeking major improvements in controls of fugitive releases. Unusually tough requirements have also been set for soil clean-up, automatic recording of incinerator operating conditions, and controls on discharges to sewer.
