Green purchasing advances in local government

A network of trading standards officers is being set up in the Midlands to ensure that information on "green" product claims is more widely distributed, especially among purchasing officers. Meanwhile, a report by the Association of Metropolitan Authorities (AMA) has shown that green purchasing practices are advancing among its member councils - but has also warned them about the marketing hype, higher prices and relatively poor performance of some "green" products.1
