Monitoring rules relaxed for cement operators
Dust emission monitoring rules for cement storage and handling operations have been relaxed following the first substantive review of official guidance issued to local authorities since 1991 on their air pollution control powers under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Operators will now be under less pressure to install costly monitoring equipment, although they will be required to carry out regular checks on the performance of dust filters instead.
