UK invokes subsidiarity in move against landfill Directive

A ban on co-disposal has been reinstated into a revised draft of the proposed EC Directive on landfills. The move is being opposed by the UK as negotiations on the proposal gather pace, but the UK has also gone out on a limb to argue that the Directive should be drastically watered down to reflect the doctrine of subsidiarity.
