Industry calls on Government to go Dutch on legislation

The chemical industry is leading demands on the Government to follow the Dutch example by entering into voluntary environmental agreements with business instead of imposing new legislation. Industry claims that such pacts could mark a new era of co-operation with the Government and form a pillar of its sustainable development strategy - but there would be plenty of problems to surmount before meaningful agreements could be signed.
