Sludge-to-land study raises fears about PCBs in food chain

Spreading sewage sludge on grassland may result in significantly elevated PCB levels in cows' milk, a study by scientists at the University of Lancaster has suggested. The finding is important in the light of plans by the water industry for a major expansion of sludge disposal to land.
