  • Sainsbury's is to try and boost the market for clear glass recycling by breaking wine producers' tradition of supplying wine in green rather than clear bottles. The supermarket will be placing one of its best-selling wines, Bianco di Verona, in a clear glass bottle on the shelves alongside the same wine in its usual green bottle for a trial period. At present nearly 70% of green glass comes from recycled material, but only 16% of the clear glass manufactured comes from recycling banks. However, sourcing clear glass in Italy is proving difficult.
