Aluminium industry, 3M under global warming spotlight

Two years after the whistle was first blown on a group of extremely potent greenhouse gases, the perfluorocarbons (PFCs), the UK aluminium industry says it has already reduced its emissions of the chemicals significantly and will do more. But little attention has been given to the increasing use of PFCs as substitutes for CFCs and halons, or to attempts by one company, 3M, to promote them.
