US Government shows the way on green purchasing
All US federal agencies will have to incorporate waste prevention and recycling in their daily operations and work to expand markets for recovered materials and "environmentally preferable" products under an Executive Order signed by President Clinton in October. Its mandatory targets and reporting mechanisms contrast vividly with the actions taken to date by the UK Government in reducing the environmental impact of its operations.
