Third timetable announced for waste licensing rules

A third official date for the implementation of the waste management licensing regime under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 was announced by Environment Minister Tim Yeo on 24 November. The rules will come into force next May - but there is little sign that the waste industry is any closer to persuading the Department of the Environment (DoE) that its ideas for a landfill clean-up fund will satisfy the Act's requirements.
