Waste industry's change of tack on major hazard proposals
Proposals by the Health and Safety Commission (HSC) to extend EC rules on major accident hazards to waste disposal facilities now appear to be less innocuous than they seemed. Against earlier expectations, they now appear likely to catch not only hazardous waste incinerators but some chemical waste transfer stations as well.
