TBT pollution from ships threatens North Sea species
A study sponsored by the Department of the Environment (DoE) has found that the southern North Sea is so polluted with the marine anti-fouling chemical tributyl tin (TBT) that the survival of sensitive species like the dogwhelk is now at risk. The findings lend support to moves towards an international ban on TBT-based ship coatings.
