Government must create markets to boost recycling, inquiry told
The Government is failing to learn from the mistakes of the German packaging regulations by pursuing waste recovery without developing markets for recycled material, the House of Commons' Environment Committee was told this month by Waste Watch and the National Recycling Forum (NRF). And many voluntary groups are losing out because local authorities are not paying them recycling credits for removing material from the waste stream.
