CBI's environment team breaks up

The Confederation of British Industry's environmental programme has been plunged into a crisis following the resignation of four of its specialists.

The resignations, which were submitted in mid-January, have left just one expert in the CBI's environmental policy branch.

The staff who are leaving include Dr Ted Thairs, the Deputy Director of Environmental Affairs, who has been with the CBI for 19 years. He will be taking up a new post on European water policy at the Water Services Association in mid-March. The other three are specialists in air and water pollution, integrated pollutio
