Last batch of air pollution guidance notes

Twenty-six process guidance notes on the air pollution control standards to be applied by local authorities using their new powers under Part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 were published by the Department of the Environment (DoE) on 28 February.1 Only one, highly controversial, note in the series of 77 now remains to be issued.

The 26 new notes comprise the third batch in the series. Two batches of 25 notes were published in February and August last year (ENDS Reports 193, pp 31-2, and 199, pp 27-9).
