  • KLEA 134a, the non-ozone depleting replacement for refrigerant CFCs, is to be used in a new Sainsbury store in Basildon. The supermarket is claimed to be the first major store in Europe to use the refrigerant in its chilled food cabinets. In its freezers, Sainsbury will continue to use HCFC-22, a refrigerant with a low ozone-depleting potential, while non-depleting alternatives are developed.
