British Telecom: Putting greener purchasing on a systematic footing

British Telecom, the UK's largest private purchaser, has initiated a programme to vet its suppliers' environmental performance. It has also published its first environmental performance report. The company is aiming to use its massive purchasing power to promote environment-friendly behaviour in others.
