Amendments to environmental assessment rules

Regulations applying the 1985 EC Directive on environmental assessment of major projects to harbour works in Scotland were introduced in July.1 Minor changes have also been made to the assessment rules in England and Wales.2

The new Scottish rules correct an apparent omission from the series of regulations which implemented the 1985 Directive in Britain.
