  • Albright & Wilson has won a £1.35 million EC grant to help fund a plant to remove heavy metals from its Whitehaven operation's waste stream - the largest single source of heavy metals in the UK. The "solidification" technology locks the heavy metals in a solid for landfilling or other applications (ENDS Report 200, p 4-6). Part of the grant will be used to run the plant as a demonstration unit and fund marine life monitoring
