Access to data on older pesticides

Environmental and safety data on pesticides which were approved before the introduction of statutory controls is to be opened up to public scrutiny, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) announced on 14 August.

The new disclosure arrangements appear to be broadly in line with proposals in a consultation paper issued by MAFF last November (ENDS Report 202, p 34). However, full details are not yet available.

The disclosure policy will complement existing arrangements for public access to data on pesticides going through the approval process or which are under review. It will apply to older pesticides, approved before statutory controls were introd
