Detergents and cleaners top green products league

Manufacturers of household detergents and cleaners appear to be making the biggest efforts to develop "environment-friendly" consumer goods, according to an eight-country survey of product claims by the market research group Mintel International.1 But the proliferation of environmental claims is probably compounding the difficulties facing consumers in selecting products with the smallest environmental impacts.
