Company news

  • A project is being set up in the Mersey basin to demonstrate the financial and environmental benefits of waste minimisation. Ten companies are being selected to participate in the Catalyst scheme, which is being run by a management consortium of WS Atkins, March Consulting Group and Aspects International. The 18-month scheme is sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry and the BOC Foundation, who will provide 50% of the funding, but the total budget will depend on the final list of participants. Unlike the parallel scheme in the Aire and Calder catchments in Yorkshire (ENDS Report 206, p 12 ), the Catalyst project will aim to reduce solid and gaseous waste as well as aqueous discharges.
