Pollution inspectorates form EC network

A Dutch initiative came to fruition on 6 November when the industrial pollution control agencies of all 12 EC countries agreed to form a permanent network to compare approaches to permitting and enforcement. Its activities should help to ensure greater consistency of environmental standards across the Community.

The new network has its origin in an official Dutch proposal last year that steps should be taken to encourage common practices by pollution control authorities.
