NRA studies toxicity-based discharge consents

The National Rivers Authority (NRA) is to launch a pilot study next year into the use of toxicity-based consents for controlling complex chemical discharges. It plans to introduce the new consents from 1995 to control effluents from sewage works and the chemical, oil and paper industries.
