Paper manufacturer Sittingbourne Paper was fined a total of £4,000 in August for breaching its discharge consent on four separate days last November. The National Rivers Authority, which brought the prosecution, found concentrations of suspended solids 2-10 times higher than those permitted by the firm's consent.
