Hazardous waste incineration specialists Re-Chem International won an unqualified BBC apology in the High Court on 28 April for allegations in five programmes during 1985 that the firm's operations at Pontypool were carried out without due care for public safety. The BBC also paid the firm's legal costs of £50,000. Re-Chem dropped its claim for damages.
