The waste industry has said the Scottish government’s plans to press on with a ban on landfill will amount to a “£100m landfill tax gift to England”.

The Scottish Environmental Services Association (SESA) released a statement yesterday expressing its “deep concern” over Scotland’s lack of preparedness for the ban, which is due to be in force from 2021.
