Peers seek answers on post-Brexit carbon pricing

The chair of the EU Energy and Environment Sub-Committee has called on energy minister Claire Perry to answer questions on the operation of a future emissions trading or carbon tax scheme after the UK leaves the EU.

A letter sent by Lord Teverson on Wednesday expresses “a number of outstanding questions and concerns” about what will happen in deal and no-deal Brexit scenarios. The letter follows a meeting with her, Treasury minister Robert Jenrick and officials two weeks ago, held as part of the sub-committee’s inquiry into post-Brexit carbon pricing.
