Aggregates levy review to consider environmental impact, Treasury says

A comprehensive review into an environmental tax intended to reduce the extraction of fresh aggregate, such as rock, sand and gravel, will begin in the spring, the Treasury has confirmed.

As part of the spring statement on Wednesday, the Treasury said that the review would consider all aspects of the aggregates levy, including its environmental impact and announce any next steps by the end of the year.

The review follows the conclusion of long-running legal action over the legality of the levy.
