Environment Agency to delay river basin plan consultations

The Environment Agency (EA) has decided to delay two consultations into reviewing and updating England’s river basin management plans (RBMP) but says the new plans will still be in place by December 2021.

The next consultation, which was due to begin this spring, will now start five months later than planned, in October 2019, while the third and final consultation will now begin four months later in October 2020 and will close in April 2021.

The EA made the announcement in its summary of responses to the first out of three consultations on updating the RBMPs, which it published this month.
