No-deal Brexit chemicals registration timeline set out by government

Deadlines for registering with the UK’s new chemicals regulation in the event of a no-deal Brexit, have been set out by government.

Guidance for the chemicals sector – the second largest manufacturer in the UK – was published by DEFRA yesterday, alongside a timeline.

The government has said that all UK businesses that export chemicals to the EU will need to have their EU REACH registration in place if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

Under this scenario, chemical businesses currently registered to EU REACH will also need to validate their existing registration with the Health and Safety Executive within 120 days of the UK leaving the EU.
