The Environment Agency (EA) has extended the list of convictions that must be declared when a person applies for an environmental permit for waste activities or installations.

It is part of a drive to crack down on waste crime, which is proving one of the hardest problems for the agency to tackle.

The new list, published on Monday, sets out a list of 41 laws and regulations under which an applicant must declare any unspent convictions. In the previous version of the list, just 21 were set out.
