Labour urges Gove to declare national environment and climate emergency

The Labour Party has called on the government to declare a national environment and climate emergency in the House of Commons this morning.

Addressing environment ministers in the chamber, shadow environment minister Sue Hayman pointed out that the UK is likely to meet only five of its 20 Aichi biodiversity targets, saying this amounted to an “environment and climate emergency”.
