UK ‘unprepared’ for post-Brexit alignment with EU green rules

Major questions remain over how the UK could commit to ‘dynamic alignment’ with new EU environmental policies after Brexit, a group of policy experts has warned.

Appearing at a conference on Brexit and the environment hosted by the Brussels Press Club yesterday, the experts said that it is still unclear what criteria could be used to assess whether the UK was aligning with new rules, what mechanisms could be established to enforce compliance and whether the country would have sufficient resources to respect its environmental commitments.
