New waste fine - total payout £79,186

Lancashire father and son William and Benjamin Wheale have been handed eight-month prison sentences, suspended for 18 months and each ordered to pay £34,593 in costs for dumping a large volume of waste at an industrial estate in the village of Farington. They were also ordered to undertake 150 hours of unpaid work.

Two firms directed by William Wheale were also fined: £10,000 for Wheale Environmental Contracting Ltd and a nominal £1 against Wheale Plant Hire Ltd
