Landfill tax receipts fell by 9.4% in 2018/19, marking the fifth consecutive year of reductions, according to the latest data from HMRC.

According to DEFRA’s latest figures however, the amount of local authority collected waste that was recycled in England fell by 3.5% last year while incineration increased by 6.5%, suggesting that much of the waste being diverted from landfill is being incinerated.
