Environment Bill: 8 things you need to know about how it is shaping up

Six months after the first part of the draft Environment Bill was published, Environment Agency board minutes have revealed new details about how the legislation is taking shape. Here are 8 things you need to know about the progress that has been made.

1 The Environment Bill is being developed under 5 policy ‘chapters’

The draft provisions of the first part of the bill, published in December, covered governance and the application of environmental principles. But there are four more chapters to come on nature, water, air quality and waste and resources, according to the Environment Agency’s (EA) latest board meeting minutes. Climate change is not mentioned.
