‘Significant changes’ afoot at Natural England

Natural England is pressing ahead with a new roadmap which will require “significant changes” in the way it works, its "staff capabilities" and its "income strategy", the regulator’s latest board meeting minutes reveal.

Multiple references to the need to change the way the regulator is organised suggest that wholesale reform may be on the cards.

“New arrangements” under the roadmap comprise four themes, according to the minutes, which align with the 25-Year Environment Plan, Natural England’s landscape-focused Conservation 21 strategy, and “the activities that Natural England carries out at present”.
