DEFRA makes ‘Rolls-Royce’ amendment to UK-REACH

The UK’s post-Brexit chemicals regulation system will be amended for the second time this year, largely to make allowance for authorisations that are still being considered by the European Commission.

The move responds to demands from Rolls-Royce and many other aerospace and engineering firms.

The REACH etc. (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) (No. 3) Regulations 2019 have been laid before parliament due to an accumulation of undecided applications for the sectors’ specialist uses of toxic hexavalent chromate compounds, including chromium trioxide and sodium dichromate.
